Miss Brianne
Irish Dance Teacher~ Competitive Teams
Brianne started dancing at the age of 5 and has always had a deep love for the art and sport of Irish dance. She grew up in a proudly Irish family (grandparents came to NY from County Longford) and was brought to several local feises as a young girl. Eventually, she asked to be enrolled and started with the Petri School of Irish Dance in NY where she competed for the entirety of her dancing career, other than 2 years spent with the Maguire O’Shea academy when her family relocated to England. Throughout her dancing career, Brianne competed nationally and internationally earning several titles including Mid-Atlantic regional champion, North American National Champion, and World medal holder. Throughout these years she also enjoyed teaching private lessons and assisting with the occasional practices for the younger dancers.
After her competitive career, Brianne attended Boston College where she joined the Boston College Irish Dance club. She held several Executive positions, including Co-President and Head choreographer, which helped her discover her love of choreography and all of the elements that went into a performance.
Irish dance has been a lifelong passion with lasting impacts, not to mention all the amazing friendships along the way! She looks forward to helping dancers achieve their goals, whatever they may be, and to cultivate confidence, discipline, and artistic expression through her classes.
Miss Ciara
Irish Dance Teacher~ Competitive Teams
Miss Ciara started Irish dancing at the age of 4 and has always had a strong connection to Irish culture and heritage. Her grandparents emigrated from Sligo and Galway and passed down their love for music and dancing through generations. Before Ciara was old enough to go to dance class with her sisters, she was always throwing on their dresses and old ghillies and making up her own steps for everyone to watch. Ciara later moved up the championship level and had the privilege to compete at local, regional, and national competitions in solo and ceili dancing. She loved helping younger dancers during class and summer camp workshops as well as performing at nursing homes, festivals, sporting events, and even the Captiol Building!
Irish dancing has taught Ciara many valuable life lessons of determination, leadership, confidence, and perseverance. She cherishes the memories she has had with friends and family at class and competitions. Ciara enjoyed ceili dancing most of all because the team would work together to combine their strengths in order to set and achieve goals, all while cheering each other on in the process. Ciara is thrilled to be a part of the McHale School and is looking forward to keeping up the tradition and love for the sport!
